Rio Del Oro is a very large under-developed community. The main population of the area is along the I-25 corridor and the Rio Grande River. This area is rapidly growing in value and popularity. Valencia County's population has grown an unbelievable 46% in the last 10 years alone, with many new homes in the area. The City of Belen has a population of 6,900 and the "Rio Communities" have another 5,800.

Turn left onto State Route 314 and head north through downtown Belen for approximately .56 of a mile. At this point, there is an intersection with State Route 309 (Reinken Avenue). Turn right onto State Route 309 and head east for approximately 2.42 miles (you will cross the Rio Grande River). At this point, there is an intersection with State Route 47/6.
